3 Nigerian youth shot dead at birthday party

The three were allegedly shot by members of the Special Task Force on Jos Crisis.

Three youth were shot dead allegedly by security agents on Sunday night at a birthday party around Bukuru Low Cost, Jos South Local Government Area of Plateau State.

Several witnesses said some members of the Special Task Force on Jos Crisis, STF, opened fire on the youth at the party at Joenice Joint, a beer parlour at Nyango Gel, Bukuru Low Cost Area. Apart from the dead, some of the party-goers escaped with injuries.

Nantel Miri, the father of one of the deceased, said his son, Timshak, 20, was shot dead by suspected security agents who stormed the party venue. He said he reported the matter to the Police Divisional Office, DPO, in Bukuru on Monday.

Mr. Miri said the remains of his son and the two other victims were deposited at the mortuary of the Jos University Teaching Hospital, JUTH.

He called for a thorough investigation of the incident so that those who committed the crime would be brought to book.

One of the youth who escaped and asked not to be named for fear of victimisation, said an argument had ensued at the party venue between two youth. It was almost resolved when the owner of the “joint” insisted on inviting the STF patrolling the area, he said.

“When the soldiers came to the venue, they opened fire on us. I was lucky to have escaped,” the youth narrated.

A resident of the area, one Rintim, said the incident caused him a sleepless night as a result of fear. 

He described the incident as “pathetic” and appealed for the appropriate investigations.

Meanwhile, the Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, Abuh Emmanuel, in his office on Monday at the headquarters of the Police Command, denied any knowledge of the incident.

“I have not received an official report from the Divisional Police Officer Bukuru concerning such an incident, but my office would investigate and get to the root of the matter,” he said.

The spokesperson of the STF, Ikedichi Iweha, a captain, did not pick calls to his phone. The owner of the drinking joint could not be found at the time of filing this report.

Man sets wife ablaze for not delivering male children (Graphic Photo)

A 35-year-old man and medicine dealer,  Paul Mkpuke from Onuojgon Alike Ikwo in Ikwo Local Government Area of Ebonyi State is  in police net for  setting his wife, Monica, ablaze, because she’s been delivering only female children.

The man had earlier sent his wife back to her parents, a source said.  But  not satisfied with that, he allegedly mobilized suspected hoodlums whom he led to his wife’s parents’ house with the intention to kill her.

The state Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Mr Chris Anyanwu who confirmed the incident said Mkpuke and his boys laid ambush for Monica at night waiting for her to come out to ease herself and when she did, three men  rushed and grabbed her while one of them slapped her repeatedly before forcing her onto a standby motorcycle.

He said   when they got to a particular bridge, Monica was brought down from the motorcycle and  her wrapper was removed and used to  blindfold her. Subsequently, they poured  fuel on her  and set her ablaze.

The PPRO noted  when the hoodlums were convinced she had been severely burnt and may not survive, they abandoned her but after some time, Monica regained little strength and rolled into a nearby pond and subsequently struggled her way into  an uncompleted building to hide because she was naked  until a farmer discovered her.

Monica was later rushed to Federal Teaching Hospital Abakaliki where she underwent surgery and now convalescing.

When Sunday Sun visited her, she was still too weak and could not talk but her younger brother, Sunday Nwigbo who was with her at the hospital narrated her ordeal in  her husband’s household where she had spent  12 years.


He said  the man impregnated his sister when she was in secondary school at Ikwo and continued living with her, adding that Mkpuke had not even paid her bride price but often threatened to kill her whenever the issue was raised and for not delivering  a male child.

Nwigbo further revealed that Mkpuke had earlier sent his sister packing in March 2014 declaring that he was fed-up with her  and the case was reported to the Family Law Centre of the wife of the governor for intervention.

The PPRO said  the suspect had been charged to court for prosecution.

Late Singer Kefee’s Branama Kitchen shuts down (PHOTOS)

Late singer Kefee‘s restaurant, Branama Kitchen, has been shut down. The eatery, which used to play host to numerous celebrities amidst merriment and loud music was closed.

None of its staff were present and its doors were secured with padlocks. Sources said the last time the restaurant was opened was on Friday, June 15, 2014, and was shut down not long after the singer’s death was reported.

‘I don’t know when next it will be opened but nobody has come to open it since it was shut down last Friday‘, another source said.

The restaurant which is located in the Mende area of Maryland, Lagos was opened in February 2012 and was born out of Kefee’s passion for delicacies and hospitality....

BREAKING: Explosion rocks Kano School of Hygiene

A blast suspected to be from an explosive device has just occurred at the School of Hygiene, Kano.

The ‎spokesperson of the Kano Police, Magaji Majiya, confirmed the blast to PREMIUM TIMES.

He said the state’s Commissioner of Police and other officers were on their way to the scene of the blast.

He said the area has been cordoned off. He also said the commissioner will address the media at the scene shortly.

The police confirmed the explosion.

Ekiti 2014: PDP commends Fayemi for conceding defeat

The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, on Monday commended Governor Kayode Fayemi of Ekiti state for conceding defeat and congratulating his‎ rival and winner of Saturday’s guber election, Ayodele Fayose.

“This exceptional show of statesmanship has indeed earned Governor‎ Fayemi the respect and admiration of Nigerians as a man of honour, a‎ true democrat and a patriot”, the PDP stated in a statement signed by its National Publicity Secretary, Olisa Metuh.

Mr. Metuh said Mr. Fayemi “exhibited the spirit of‎ sportsmanship propagated and practiced by the PDP and President Goodluck Jonathan” even as it called on politicians in the country to “imbibe the‎ same spirit and jettison all forms of bad loser syndrome especially ahead of the 2015 general elections.”

This is hilarious..Rihanna has been religiously watching the world cup, giving her commentaries on twitter..She has also been calling different football stars she likes "Bae" ..Yesterday, she watched Germany /Ghana match and was passing commentaries.

To the surprise of many, she was no more supporting Ghana and called them annoying ...This is just a week after she supported Ghana after spotting the handsome,Prince Boateng who she called Bae..Many say she must have been angry after finding out he is married with a kid..Lol

The issue is, Nigerian football fans were hopping she would tweet about the match which was immediately after Ghana's and probably find a new Bae like Osaze..But to their disappointment, Rihanna was mute ...and ignored Nigeria..Lol
